Tokyo Ramen Crash Course

Chef Guided Ramen Adventure

This action packed four day tour is for the ramen enthusiast.  After this trip, you will learn from professionals all aspects of ramen making. The tour will start in Yokohama, a historic city south of Tokyo, and according to ramen expert Hiroshi Osaki, where the first specialized ramen shops opened in 1910. We will be taking classes at two different ramen schools, visit the ramen museum, and also go shopping at Kappabashi, which is almost entirely populated with shops supplying kitchen gadgets to restaurants and professional chefs. Get ready, you will be tasting lots of ramen during this tour.

Day 1 > Arrive in Yokohama

Arrival & check in at a hotel in downtown Yokohama, the second largest city in Japan and one of the first Japanese ports opened to foreign trade in 1859.  Meet your tour guide and enjoy the nightlife in Yokohama or arrive by noon, and take a tour of the Kirin Brewery.

Day 2 > Ramen School

After breakfast, a hands on learning opportunity awaits you at ramen school.  This all day hands-on learning experience will teach you everything you need to know about making ramen.  Be sure to check out Japan’s largest Chinatown during your free time in the evening.

Day 3 > Yokohama Ramen Museum & Cup of Noodles Museum

In the morning, we will visit the Ramen Museum, learn about the history of ramen and sample ramen from various regions.  Then it's over to the famous Cup of Noodles Museum and immerse ourselves in the legacy of Momofuku Ando.

Day 4 > Hands-On Ramen Workshop at Tokyo Restaurant, Kappabashi & Asakusa

Today we will roll up our sleeves and sharpen our skills with a half-day ramen workshop at a restaurant and school in Tokyo.  Afternoon shopping time awaits you at Kappabashi or 'kitchen town', a destination of over 100 shops selling cookware. Before departing Tokyo, pay a visit to Sensoji Temple in Asakusa, and be sure to hit the new Ramen Street at Tokyo Station.
